Aug 1st
A motorist was observed travelling at 157 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Hwy 16. The male driver (51 years old) was issued a fine in the amount of $796.25.

Aug 2nd
Portage la Prairie RCMP received a call regarding a possible impaired driver near Crescent Road. Officers found the suspect vehicle at the residence of the driver, who was seen exiting the vehicle as police arrived on scene. Through statement evidence and observations of the officers on scene, the female driver (35 years old) was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and taken into custody. The driver’s subsequent breath samples were over double the legal limit. The vehicle was towed and impounded at the owner’s expense for a minimum of 60 days.

Aug 3rd
Treherne RCMP are presently looking for suspects in relation to a break and enter in the RM of Grey. Police were called by the home owner, who discovered their garage had been broken into. Of interest to public safety, the suspect stole a firearm and several other weapons from inside the garage. Aug 4th
Portage la Prairie RCMP were called to as tractor trailer rollover on Hwy 1, near Bagot, which saw traffic detoured for several hours. Investigators believed that driver error was to blame, as the driver overcorrected after the semi’s tires left the roadway. Charges have not been laid at this time. There were no other vehicles were damaged, and no one involved had any serious injuries.

Aug 5th
A motorist was observed travelling at 140 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Hwy 1. The male driver (23 years old) was issued a fine in the amount of $573.50.

Aug 6th
During a traffic stop on 2nd Street SW, officers came in contact with a male driver (32 years old). The driver was provided an out-of-province driver’s license, which required that he have a Blood Alcohol Content (BAC) of zero. The investigator quickly determined that the driver had consumed an unknown quantity of alcohol, and demanded that he provide a breath sample to an approved roadside screening device. The driver refused to do so, and was subsequently arrested for refusal and issued a fine for violating conditions of his license. The vehicle was towed and impounded at the owner’s expense.

A motorist was observed travelling at 145 km/h in a 100 km/h zone on Hwy 1. The female driver (48 years old) was issued a fine in the amount of $639.25.

Aug 7th
Portage la Prairie RCMP observed a vehicle parked in the middle of the roadway on 3rd Street NE. When officers turned around to investigate the vehicle took off, eventually stopping outside a residence on Royal Road N. The female driver (40 years old) attempted to leave the vehicle before it was in park, which resulted in some property damage. The driver was arrested for impaired operation of a motor vehicle, and taken into custody, where she refused to provide samples of her breath when required. The driver was held in custody, as well as some of the passengers in the vehicle. The vehicle itself was towed and impounded for a minimum period of 60 days at the owner’s expense.
