The Royal Canadian Air Force Gala is taking place this weekend at Southport. Southport's Site Manager of KF Aerospace Defence program Peter Fedak says they had such a great turnout in 2013 that they were eager to put the event on again.

"It was all part of the previous being such a great success and such a great way for the RCAF and all of the aerospace community out here to go into town and really bring that culture together. Part of it is reinforcing that the RCAF is here and the other part is saying thank you to the town and having this great event."

He notes they will be staying true to the Gala experience while hosting the event in the hangar.

"All of the military personnel will be wearing their mess dress uniforms which is the tuxedo. Retired members, including myself have been granted the privilege of wearing them again. There should be a number of formally dressed folks here to enjoy a real gala evening. There will be excellent food, table service, a lot of steep tradition, bagpipers brining in the head table, speeches and our guests speaker is fantastic."

Fedak says putting on an event for 500 guests is no easy task, adding the gala committee and all of the sponsor deserve credit for making the event possible.
