The playground at St. Eustache School is on its way to being replaced.

The RM of Cartier recently made a donation toward the structure, and Reeve Dale Fossay outlines the details.

"The Parents Advisory Committee has taken on a large project which is to upgrade the playground, not only the school playground but the community of St. Eustache's playground. A major upgrade, the facilities there are older and need to be replaced. So they're working toward a large project, so we made a 5,000 contribution. They're just getting going here, it'll be a multi-year project."

Fossay says they're relying entirely on donations now.

"Their overall project long range is to the order of $200,000. Trees, structures, landscaping, and I believe they're at the 35,000 mark now, so it'll be a way to go yet. I guess what we struggle with that the school divisions themselves are not putting the rec funding into this playground structure. So that's a little bit of a challenge we have to deal with -- but hopefully -- the business community and private citizens step up and we can get a nice playground going."

The total cost is around $200,000, and it's an ongoing project.
