Injured Portage Terrier Braden Pettinger's getting a chance to head home from the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, but only for a short time.

Braden's Uncle Larry Pettinger says, "It's just for a few days, it's not going to be long term. As it stands right now, it looks like he's heading to Regina, Saskatchewan because apparently there is a wonderful -- wonderful -- facility at Regina for the physiotherapy with accommodations to live in next door to the physiotherapy area."

Pettinger says there are a lot of positives in Braden's future, like the physio centre in Regina.

"He's working hard, there's not been a great deal of change so far, but still his arms getting stronger on a monthly basis. No finger movement yet, which is frustrating for him, and everyone else. But apparently this place in Regina just doesn't take no for an answer, you work hard, you just do the physiotherapy every day and then possibly in a year or a year-and-a-half, then things start to happen."

Pettinger says he's actually going to be heading home for a few days for the first time, as well as taking in a special show.

"Other than the odd Portage Terriers game that he managed to get to in playoff time, he'd going to the Garth Brooks concert in Winnipeg the night he leaves the hospital. So that will be a bit of a send off there for him there, to go out. Someone has a box, and he's going to have the good fortune of sitting in a box and watching Garth Brooks."
