The Portage la Prairie Rotary Club's third annual Peace Ride is set for tomorrow morning.

Organizer Jim Brands says it began in conjunction with the John Lennon peace exhibit at the Fort la Reine Museum.

"After that, we've taken on other partners. So it's just a yearly fundraiser we want. We want to get a group of people out every year, just to have some fun, go for a ride -- there are a lot of bikers -- and raise a little bit of money for the community. We've raised $3000 or $4000. We're trying to make it more of a community event. We always look for different ideas -- how do we make it better."

Brands adds something new this year is cars will be part of the ride as well.

"One of riders who's been out every year, the first two years. He had a knee operation, and he can't ride his bike this year, he's been told to stay off it. He has a nice Mustang, and he's asked if he can come along. It started out to be a motorcycle ride, but we want make this a bigger community event where, if you want to come along in your car, come along."

They'll head toward Carberry, then go north to Highway 16 at Neepawa for the return trip, and hold a wind-up at Canad Inns.
