The Rotary Santa Parade of Lights will be returning once again this year to kick off the holiday season.

Last year, the Portage Rotary Club partnered with the Chamber of Commerce to facilitate the parade and Chamber Vice-president Preston Meier says they're excited to do so again. He notes it's Portage's premier parade, and they hopE everyone will get involved.

"We certainly hope that all the businesses and non-profits, agri-businesses, home-based businesses, schools and so on will get involved with it."

Meier adds any level of involvement is good involvement.

"Whether you just take a truck and light up some lights and throw a generator in the back, whether you want to go all out. We've seen some great floats."

He adds it brings everyone together and really shows the spirit of the community. Meier explains the parade is also beneficial to Portage's economy.

"We get people from all over the place that come in town that day so they're able to see some of the businesses that participate. The stronger we are economically the better it's going to be for the community in the long run."

The parade will take place Friday, December 2nd starting at 7:00 p.m. but the floats can line up in the Portage Co-op parking lot anytime after 5:00p.m.

Meier notes they thank Kevin Dales and the Portage Co-op for the use of the parking lot.
