Premier-elect Brian Pallister called it a "great night" for his Progressive Conservative Party.

His PC's swept to power in last night's provincial election, making history by winning 40 of Manitoba's 57 constituencies.

"I am tremendously humbled by what has happened here, and I thank Manitobans. I am thankful because after years of division, we now have an opportunity to build a better future for all Manitobans together."

Pallister calls last night's results humbling.

"And I'm thankful tonight because I can join with Manitobans in getting this province back on track. We're builders here, and now we have the opportunity to build with a better plan for a better Manitoba. A Manitoba with lower tax rates, with better services, and with a stronger economy that benefits all of us."

Outgoing premier Greg Selinger won his St. Boniface seat, but has resigned as party leader.
