A familiar face took part in his final Portage la Prairie School Board meeting this week.

It was former Superintendent Hazen Barrett's final meeting with the board, as Superintendent Todd Cuddington's officially taken over the position. Barrett says the lead up to his final days has been running very smooth.

"Actually it was really interesting because it was really neat to start to hand the reigns over. I think the way the board did the transition period between Todd Cuddington and myself was really helpful, and it took a lot of the stress out of moving on. Plus knowing that Mike Mauws was still going to be here for a while to help with the transition really made moving on much easier."

Barrett lists a few of the things he's going to miss.

"The biggest thing easily is the people that I've worked with here. It's just been a total blast just having the staff, the administrators that we've worked with, senior administration and the principals, and our student services staff. I hope Portage realizes what they've got here because I've been in a lot of school divisions and I've just thoroughly enjoyed what's going on here."

He's looking forward to spending time with family, golfing, and catching some naps from time-to-time.
