Operation Red Nose is halfway through its program for this year as it continues to help keep our roads safe by separating drinking from driving. Organizer Leo Lapointe shares how things went last weekend.

"Last weekend it actually went really well. The Friday was a little slow. We did 39 rides. But on Saturday -- the corporate night - we did 61 rides. I was really happy with that. And even donations were really good."

He notes they'll be operating next Thursday and Friday, but will take a break on Christmas Eve. Lapointe adds they could really use your volunteer help for the last weekend of December, and especially New Years Eve.

So far $6,100.00 came in in donations, with an overall amount of 251 rides. There are three more weeks left in the program, and Lapointe's quite thrilled with how people are lending a hand to save that one or two more lives this year. After having spoken to RCMP last week, Lapointe says he was happy to learn they may have only had one impaired driver last weekend.

"Even to just hear that makes me happy," adds Lapointe.
