With more and more people dying or being hospitalized because of Fentanyl in Winnipeg, there's going to be an open house next week in Portage la Prairie on the dangers of the drug.

The forums will bring together members of the public and experts from different fields including health care, addictions and police. Addictions Foundation of Manitoba's Knowledge Exchange Lead Sheri Fandrey says the open house is planned for January 16th and explains some of the details.

"Our forum in the evening will take the form of a couple of presentations to start off, "says Fandrey. "One is the basic information about Fentanyl, then there will be another short presentation by the local AFM staff members in regard to how to communicate with youth about drug use in general."

Monday's event will feature many different speakers and a chance for visitors to get involved.

"Following those two really brief presentations we'll have a question and answer panel. We'll have people set up with information resources, we're also trying to get other community organizations to participate."

She adds they have the HPC booked from 7 to 9 p.m. and encourages you to attend.
