Drive-throughs aren't new, but the Portage la Prairie Girl Guides are using the idea in a new way.

This Wednesday evening, they'll have three drive-throughs selling Girl Guide cookies as part of their annual findraising drive.

Second year Guide Jasmine Houle explains how it came about.

"The Winnipeg Girl Guides had an idea to do a cookie drive-through, so then we thought that would be fun, and we decided to do that this this year, instead of going door to door like we usually would."

Houle's excited to be part of something that helps the Girl Guide program in Portage.

"Because it's nice to know that I'm not just selling  cookies, but helping othe people out, too. If you're not helping other people, then no one will really get any help, and everyone needs help at some point."

Houle urges you to partcipate in the drive through campaign, noting the money raised helps a variety of initiatives, including sending Girl Guides to camp.

The three drive throughs will be at the PCU Centre, the River Road Co-op gas bar, and Convention Corner, from 5:30 until 7 on Wednesday evening.
