The septuacentennial for Canada takes place next year, and the Canada 150 initiative's involving every municipality in the country. RM of North Norfolk Mayor Neil Christoffersen says their council's been contacted.

"We got a letter from FCM (Federation of Canadian Municipalities). They want to designate a Community Leader for the 150th celebration of Canada. We just said we'll table that one, because  we don't know who would be the community leader. It's something that we can look at in the future, because that's an important thing coming up."

He notes they're not sure how to make the selection.

"We're just going to start talking to people and finding out, or maybe it would become apparent when we see what's going on. We have so many. They wanted us to choose one Community Leader, and we've got things happening in Austin, in Sidney and MacGregor to designate? It's not going to be me. We will leave it til next meeting because we just couldn't come up with any workable ideas."
