The Holland fire department is hoping to replace its aging pumper truck. RM of Victoria Reeve Harold Purkess says right now they're looking at going with a new truck, noting the current vehicle is thirty years old and has developed some fairly significant mechanical issues. Purkess says it will cost a pile of dough to repair, adding between the age of the truck and the rules of the fire department they don't feel they should be spending that kind of money for those repairs. He notes the fire chief is coming up with specs for what a new pumper would look like, adding if a really good used vehicle came along they might consider it but it would have to be in excellent shape.

Purkess says it'll probably be mid to late summer by the time the bid is awarded and the new truck is built. He notes the cost will likely be in the neighbourhood of three hundred thousand dollars, adding they've seen this coming for a while so the RM has been building a reserve fund to help handle the purchase of the vehicle.
