It's just over a week before the RCMP Musical Ride returns to Portage la Prairie and area.

There'll be two shows at the PCU Centre on July 26th, and a third in Austin the next day.

It's presented by the Community Foundation of Portage and District, Southport, and the Portage Ex. CFPD Executive Director Mary Lynn Moffatt says the show has a couple of local connections.

"One of the riders is Constable Gabriel Monderie. He was stationed in Portage for two years, and left here to join the Musical Ride. And the other is homegrown Constable Erin Beaulieu. She's very excited to be able to come home and ride this year for the show here in town -- get to see her family and friends."

Moffatt notes they have additional attractions as well.

"The opening acts for the shows in Portage are the Metis Prairie Steppers and the Diamond Disc Dogs. We also have some activities going on between the two shows, so you can come and make a day of it. We have displays from the RCMP and the fire department on safety. And you have a chance to tour the barns, and actually see the horses and talk to the riders."

There'll also be a bouncy castle, face painting, and games.
