This week began with some good news for municipalities, as the federal and provincial governments announced just over 205 million dollars for infrastructure work.

Indigenous and Municipal Relations Minister Eileen Clarke signed the document for the province, and says it's a good feeling to make the announcement.

"We've been working with the federal government, and departments within the provincial government, along with the Association of Manitoba Municipalities. Municipalities and the city of Winnipeg have been waiting for these announcements, they have projects that need to be done."

Clarke's pleased, but acknowledges it's only a beginning of what needs to be done.

We're very happy that Phase 2 will be announced probably some time later this year. Although there were 27 projects announced, they aren't all the projects that were submitted. We have to pick priorities, and we hope to continue to provide as much funding as possible in the future."

Clarke says they hope to partner with the federal government provide to do that.
