The Mennonite Central Committee would like to move towards more third party fund raising.

The aim is to get grassroots people to host events they have a passion for while at the same time supporting MCC and its projects.

“We have notice a change in the way people donate,” said MCC Manitoba's Director of Communications and Donor Relations Brad Reimer.

He added they are meeting budget needs but people are giving in different ways. “We want people to get engaged in the process at the grassroots level and organize their own events with the aim of supporting MCC.”

The group will shortly unveil plans for third party fund raising. Reimer hopes people head to their website to check out how they can participate.

“Whether you want to put on a ball hockey tournament or whatever we support that. We don't have the resources to organize the events but MCC will help out in small ways where we can.”

There has been a move way from some of the long running sales to other forms of fund raising. “I point to the Clear Lake cycling event held every summer. A group of people organize their own ride, collect donations and forward the money to MCC,” said Reimer.
