You'll once again be able to fill your tank in MacGregor. The MacGregor Co-op is once again opening their pumps Friday, after conducting work on the station's tanks over the last several weeks due to environmental concerns.

While the building's convenience store remained open for the 12-week project, those seeking fuel were forced to travel to either Portage or Austin to fill their tanks. Portage Co-op Gas Bar Manager Dale Deschouwer says they're happy to have the work completed, noting the project took a bit longer than expected.

"We had to replace the underground storage tanks. What happened was we couldn't get the new tanks back in the ground so had to revert to above-ground tanks, which prolonged the construction period. The old tanks have been taken out, and the hole has been filled so there are no environmental concerns anymore."

While customers will likely be pleased to have the option to fill their tanks in MacGregor once again, Deschouwer says the work also came with an added benefit. He notes they'll once again be able to offer more than just regular and diesel fuel.

"It's been good. We couldn't sell premium for the last two years because we didn't have a tank, which was causing us the problem. Now, we'll have premium gas there which we haven't had for two years, and regular and diesel as well."

He adds they're grateful for the patience of their customers, who were forced to travel a bit further for fuel over the last three months.
