It may seem unlikely, but if you go to Moosehorn, Manitoba, you may see Elvis. Dave Greene is an Elvis impersonator from rural Manitoba and recently competed in an Elvis competition in Penticton, BC. Greene explains how the judging works at the event.

"The competition was out of 17 guys from all over Canada and Europe and the level of competition was pretty high, but it was a lot of fun. At the event, you're judged on a lot of different things like wearing the proper costume for the song you're singing, you're also being judged on your movements on stage and your vocal ability, and overall performance, and you're also judged on audience response."

Greene says although he didn't get first place, it was an amazing experience.

"It was a lot of fun and I'm really happy with my 4th place position out of the 17 guys in the amateur division. It was an awesome time there. They had a big crowd there, and you get to perform on the main stage in front of over 3,000 people. One other really awesome thing they had there was one of the members from the Sweet Inspirations, which is a group that sang with Elvis from 1969-1977."

He says there are additional competitions for the winners.

"You perform in the amateur division until you win it, then you move into the professional category. Once you win in the professional category, you move on to perform in the Ultimate Elvis Competition in Memphis, Tennessee. If you win that competition then you're obviously considered an Ultimate Elvis, and you'll be able to do concerts and tours as Elvis."
