The snow's gone, but now you can see how much work there is to do on your lawn.

Portage Lawn Care Services' Tony Masinda says power raking and aeration are an essential part of bringing the lawn back this spring.

"The power raking gets the dead grass, fluffs it up, and makes the grass breathe a little bit better -- better to get it out. The aerating gets two inch plugs in the ground, so the water gets into the ground faster, and helps the grass grow quicker and greener."

Masinda says the next three weeks are crucial to have the work done, and outlines the process.

"You would do the power raking first. Then you get all that thatch with the lawnmower, and then you would do the aerating. Once the aerating is done, if people want to fertilize, that's best time, just so the seeds go into the holes, and on the grass, just so it helps it grow a bit quicker."
