The planning clerk for the RM of Woodlands will be attending a course in the administration of municipal law. Reeve Trevor King says council created the position of planning clerk to ensure the municipality was following all the proper rules and procedures, noting this course is just one element of professional development for that position. King says this particular course could also greatly benefit other staff members as well, so council is willing to foot the bill for the training. He adds it's a great investment in the future of the RM.

King says learning the legal aspects of planning is very important for the person in the planning clerk's position, noting it means they won't be missing anything as they move forward. He adds it might also save some money in the long run if the municipality doesn't have to obtain as much legal advice along the way.
