Brandon-Souris MP Larry Maguire isn't impressed with the Liberals budget.

The Liberal's federal budget includes spending of more than 100-billion dollars in public debt over the coming years in an effort to revive economic growth.
The Liberals had vowed to run deficits under 10-billion dollars before balancing the public books in four years -- but the budget
projects shortfalls over the next five years.

Maguire claims the Liberals are borrowing and spending tens of billions of taxpayer dollars, and to pay the bill, they are raising taxes on families, workers and job-creating businesses. The reckless Liberal plan simply grows the size of government and will do nothing to actually create jobs.

“When it comes to spending taxpayer money, the Liberals just can’t help themselves” said Maguire. “Canadians should be concerned that the Liberals are failing to do what is necessary to encourage the private sector to invest in our economy and create well-paying, high-quality jobs.”

On Tuesday the Liberals introduced their 2016 federal budget. The Budget confirms that the Liberals are raising taxes on families, youth and small businesses. Despite spending nearly $30 billion in borrowed money, the Liberal budget has no clear plan to help get unemployed Canadians back to work.

“Not only does the Liberal Government continue to ignore Canada`s natural resources and agriculture sectors,” said Maguire, “their budget fails to deliver a plan to get unemployed Canadians back to work. Moreover, the Liberals are borrowing $30 billion that the country doesn’t have, to invest in infrastructure projects that don’t create jobs. The majority of funding will not be spent on roads, highways or public transportation.”

Canada’s unemployment rate has increased for three consecutive months, despite the Liberal Government spending billions of dollars during the same time period. To make a bad situation worse, the Liberals have confirmed that they are raising taxes on job creating businesses by keeping the small business tax rate at 10.5% instead of allowing the scheduled decrease the Conservatives planned to 9%. This will hurt small business, the real driver of employment in our economy.

Maguire concluded, “The Conservatives left the Liberal Government with a $3 billion surplus, and was focused on keeping taxes low and supporting policies that helped create more than a million jobs. Instead of continuing our strong fiscal legacy, the Liberals are plunging us into debt without a clear plan to encourage the private sector to invest and create jobs.”
