You have a chance to revamp your yard, without lifting a finger or spending a dime. The Portage Community Revitalization Corporation is holding a contest, which will see seven applicants receive $1,000 in landscaping work by Go-Green Lawn and Landscaping. PCRC Community Facilitator Victoria Olson notes it's the first time they've held the contest, but adds it complements their Home Beautification, Communities In Bloom, and  Beautification Days initiatives. She hopes to see many applications come in, noting it's a great chance to beautify your yard.

Community Facilitator Victoria Olsen

"There's no work for the homeowner, other than the application itself, and a final report after. It's grants for $1,000 and Go-Green comes in, and they transform your yard. It's a really good opportunity for people so I hope they see the value in it and apply."

She notes they've kept the eligibility requirements to a minimum, in order to open the contest to a wide range of people. Olsen says in order to apply you must live within city limits, own the property, and your home's value can't exceed $200,000. She notes once the applications are in, they'll then choose seven homeowners to receive the landscaping.

"It's a contest so we'll take an applications and the PCRC staff and Go-Green will sit down and go all over the applications and we'll base them on need and the biggest impact. That's kind of how we'll judge them, and we'll pick our seven winners."

The deadline to apply is June 15th, and applications can be picked up the PCRC office, or through their website.
