Prairie Ripples is hosting its eighth annual Art and Crafts Sale this weekend at the Glesby Centre in Portage la Prairie. Lee Beaton, Marketing and Events Coordinator for the Portage and District Arts Centre, says this year's sale will feature even more artists and artisans than in the past, noting many of the artists who were on the Prairie Ripples art tour this summer will be there with their tables. Beaton says it's a great event for anyone who wants to get a jump on their holiday shopping and adds she knows a number of folks who do all their Christmas shopping at this sale each year. She notes each vendor will be offering one item as a door prize and those tickets are just five dollars apiece, while admission to the sale itself is free.

Beaton says they have decided not to feature any live music this year, as some people felt it might have been a bit distracting in previous years. She notes the Art and Crafts Sale is a great opportunity to talk to different artists and purchase some original artwork, adding you can also book commissions. The event runs from 5 to 9 p.m. on Friday and from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday.
