Manitoba's Lieutenant-Governor would like to get out to rural and northern Manitoba a little more.

Her Honour Janice Filmon was in Brandon on October 5th for a ceremony at the Commonwealth Air Training Plan Museum.

She said it was her first trip to the museum and she really enjoys getting out to the rural areas. “You know I have numerous requests to attend events and lot of it boils down to scheduling and to quite honest whether or not my office's budget allows for it to happen.”

Many people don't know that the Lieutenant-governor and her husband Gary Filmon, a former Premier of Manitoba, lived in Western Manitoba back in the late 1960's.

“Gary and I lived in Brandon from 1967 to 1969 and we really enjoyed out time here and people have been trying to get us to move back.”

Janice Filmon became Lieutenant-Governor in June of 2015 and has enjoyed her time on the job. “I really would like to get up to northern Manitoba. That trip and more visits to rural areas are something I would like to do more of in the future” said Filmon.
