The RM of Woodlands received a Good Roads Award for 2015 from the Manitoba Good Roads Association for their improvement work on Miami Beach Road. Deputy reeve Ila Buchanan says they're proud of their work.

"Contrary to some beliefs, we have done very well. And we should be very proud of that. So, Manitoba Good Roads Association is honouring us with an award that we'll accept tonight at the Good Roads Banquet. And tomorrow and Thursday is Municipal Officials Seminar, and we get to learn little bits and pieces here and there, and the there's the big trade show."

Buchanan says their public works department deserves all the credit.

"It's justification. Our public works works hard, and those roads take a big pounding. Especially that one did. There's a dairy down that road, and Miami Beach, and Camp Douglas, a YMCA Camp. So, there's a lot of bus traffic, and the heavy tractors and trucks. I think we should be very proud of how we're going. So, kudos to our Public Works."
