This year's Home and Away Draw looks like it's going to be another success. That's according to Portage Plains United Way Executive Director Mandy Dubois, as the June 23rd deadline for ticket sales approaches. The fundraiser is a partnership between the Portage Plains United Way and the Portage Rotary Club, with the proceeds split between the two organizations. Dubois says they're ticket sales are making good progress.

"We're looking really good. We have a lot of tickets out in the community, with the Rotarians selling them and people from Portage Plains United Way. I would estimate a sell out by the time June 23rd rolls around, or maybe even sooner."

Selling all tickets for the annual draw, which includes a grand prize of $5,000 for Portage la Prairie's Rona, would equate to $10,000 for both organizations. Dubois says their portion would have a huge impact, funding one of their agencies with those proceeds alone. She says overall, both organizations are hoping for a successful draw, describing each ticket purchased as an investment.

"It's huge. $10,000 for any organization to help with community efforts would have a huge impact. I know Rotary does great work here in Portage la Prairie, and again, the money stays right in the community. If you think about it, your $20 dollar ticket investment has a return of $20,000 for our community."

Other prizes for this year's draw include a $2,500 travel voucher from Travel Quest, and a $1,000 cash prize sponsored by Century 21. Tickets are currently available at the Portage Plains United Way Office, Travel Quest, Rona, Portage Supermarket, and members of Rotary or the United Way Board of Directors. They'll also be selling tickets at various special events.
