The 11th Habitat For Humanity build in Portage la Prairie launched this morning on 9th Street Northeast.

The new homeowner is Amanda Lavineway and her three sons, Alex, Ben, and Nic. The family was on-site, and Amanda tells us it's starting to feel real.

Amanda Lavineway "Pure excitement," she says, "The twins have never not shared a room. They're going to have their own space -- it's going to be a lot of freedom for our family, living closer to friends. Where we live right now, there are no kids around, there are no parks, there's nothing in walking distance. So it's just giving my kids a new life, and a different chance to experience things that most city kids get to experience."

11 year old Nic describes how he feels.

"One word -- wow! It's really cool it's happening. I honestly didn't think that it would have been us. I'm going to finally get my own room, I'm not going to

have to share with Ben, so excitement."

Habitat steering committee chair Betty-Jean Checkley calls the launch overwhelming.

"You see the enthusiasm from the family," she says, "And how much this means to them, and how that's going to change their lives, and what an impact it'll have on these young men. It feels phenomenal."

The home's expected to be complete by the fall.
