Portage la Prairie's Yellowquill School grade four students had a chance to visit Southport Aerospace and see what military in Canada is like today after having discussed the previous world wars in class. That's from grade four teacher Heather Warman, who set up the excursion today just before Remembrance Day.

Warman says the students got a chance to see the importance of the Canadian military in our day. She notes she set up the visit just before Remembrance Day after having taught the students about the two World Wars. Warman explains it was hard to put the wars in context, so she thought it would be good for them to visit the local military training facility and learn about the modern day service.

Owen in flight simulatorOwen's one of the students who tried out the helicopter simulator, and describes what it was like.

"Really dizzy. I got dizzy. It was a little stick. If you moved it forward you'd go down, if you held it back it would go up, and left it would go left -- right it would go right. If you turned too far one way it was hard to get back."
