This morning saw a boost for Portage la Prairie's William Glesby Centre from Golden West Broadcasting.

Station Manager Paul Harland presented a $2000 cheque to Glesby Executive Director Chris Kitchen.

Kitchen says it's something that goes beyond the funds.

"What it means is that Golden West realizes just how important the Glesby Centre is to the community -- understands, of course, how important having concerts (is), to be able to provide that kind of entertainment here in the community. I mean, Golden West is the perfect connection with us, and that synergy that can work between the two of us is ideal."

Golden West Station Manager Paul Harland says the company's excited to help the Glesby Centre.

"Our stations support local artists. They get to play on our stations and have the opportunity to get their music out. And the Glesby Centre does a great job in attracting those young artists, and we feel it's very important for, not only the community, but for our stations to be part of that."
