It's a good time to get your air conditioner ready for the summer according to the folks at Cobbe's Plumbing & Heating.

General Manager Andy Taylor lists a few spring recommendations.

"You need to service the furnace, service the air conditioner outside. Blow it out, wash it out, inside your filter's one of the main things that needs to be cleaned. It's just a general check over."

Taylor explains a few things that you should do to your air conditioner before starting it up.

"Basically your outside unit probably has been turned off and you may have a cover on it. Uncover it, blow it out, even get the pressure washer out and give it a quick rinse. Make sure the power is turned on and it's all cleaned. Inside, make sure your drain is open for your condensation, make sure your filters are good and test it out."

He adds it's a good idea to inspect your outside unit.

"(Check) If it's shifted, all the electrical connections are okay. If there's oil on the unit, maybe there's damage. Just look for physical damage on the outside."

He adds it's a great time to pair it with your furnace's post winter inspection.
