With the tabling of the federal government's budget recently, the RM of Cartier is anxiously awaiting the money promised for rural infrastructure. Reeve Dale Fossay says he's focused on that aspect of the budget.

"Our main point of discussion with the federal budget would be the increased spending, or increased availability of funds, for infrastructure. So, our municipality like many others, we have a wish list of sewer lagoon improvements, water line expansions. Hopefully funds will truly trickle down to the rural level."

Fossay outlines items in their wish list.

"In our case, Elie lagoon needs some repair. It's an older facility and has been there for a while. So, that needs some work. And also we still have fifty homes that are not connected to the rural water system, and we certainly would like to get all of them connected sometime in the near future."

He adds, "Hopefully we have projects that are shovel-ready to go, and our funding could come through in 2016."
