Conditions are not quite at wind chill warning levels at the moment, but that will change later today. That's from Environment Canada Meteorologist Natalie Hasell who explains how the situation will progress.

"Overall we've got a blowing snow advisory in effect and we also have an extreme cold warning in effect. Right now our wind chills were at -27 wind chill at 8:00 a.m. So, they were pretty close to warning criteria. We're going to be watching temperatures fall today because the winds are out of the northwest mainly."

She notes we'll again be in warning criteria for wind chill. The end of today should bring wind chills to -41, while tonight will receive an extreme wind chill of -43. Hasell says the stronger winds should diminish late this morning, but still strong enough to cause some blowing snow in wide-open areas until mid to late afternoon.

"Reduced visibilities and blowing snow almost everywhere in Southern Manitoba this morning," Hasell adds. "That is the other main concern. Visibility is being reduced to almost zero in some places. Road conditions are going to be really difficult as they already have been for several hours."
