A fatal collision just north of Macdonald is under investigation. The Portage la Prairie Fire Department, RCMP, and EMS were called to the scene about a mile and a half north of Macdonald on Highway 16, after a semi-truck had collided with a passenger vehicle.

The Portage la Prairie Fire Department says one person died as a result of the collision, and RCMP are investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

It was the second fatal incident to occur yesterday, with a morning collision near Ashern also taking place. Ashern RCMP, EMS, and firefighters were called to a single vehicle collision on Highway 6, about two kilometres south of Grahamdale.

Police have determined that a northbound truck with 6 occupants lost control and rolled, ejecting four people from the vehicle. A 30 year-old Fairford Man was pronounced dead at the scene, and four other passengers were taken to hospital via STARS and ambulance. They remain in hospital in stable condition.

The 25 year-old driver was located at the scene. The investigation is ongoing, but alcohol is believed to be a factor in the incident.
