The MLA for Lakeside describes the Progressive Conservative's first provincial budget as good for all of Manitoba. Ralph Eichler, who's also the agriculture minister, says while it's hard to pinpoint any commitments specific to his constituency, it's a budget that will have benefits for the whole province.

"We're going to govern for all Manitobans. Even though I'm the representative for Lakeside, I know, they know, we're there for each other. We'll see Manitoba grow, and as a result of that Lakeside will grow as well, as well as Morden-Winkler, Brandon, Vita, and Swan River. It's a great time to be in Manitoba."

Eichler also says the budget marks a nice change for the PCs, and adding it's humbling to be able to serve the province as government.

"It's good news for Manitoba. There's so much to be thankful for. There's a big difference from being in opposition and being in government, and to actually be a minister as well. It's very humbling."

While the budget includes a reduction in agriculture spending, Finance Minister Cameron Friesen says that's not due to a lack of investment, but rather due to a reduction in the amount of crop insurance claims being paid out.
