Please slow down. That is the message RCMP are sending to motorists as we get our first taste of the season of winter driving. Sergeant Joanne Ryll reminds us everything changes when roads get slippery.

"People have to be a little bit more cognizant of the road conditions, so you have to drive according to the road conditions. Be aware of your surroundings, slow down for the conditions, take your time and you'll get to where you're going, safely."

She adds this message is doubly important for new drivers.

"This might be new for them, having never experienced driving in the winter. Extra caution when driving, definitely."

Meanwhile, Manitoba Infrastructure urges motorists to stay well back of snow clearing equipment on the roads, to slow down when meeting a snow plow, and says to never pass an operating snow plow from behind.
