Time is running out to submit your pieces for the 35th annual Central Region Juried Art Exhibition. The deadline to register and submit artwork is the end of the day Friday. While this year's event is will be held in Carman, Portage and District Arts Centre Executive Director Lori Blight says their staff get a sneak peak and some of the local pieces being submitted.

"We're a depot, so as you can see we have a few pieces that have been dropped off already. The deadline for dropping off at this depot is on Friday, April 15th. The Artwork has to be packaged properly, in a container that protects that art. It has to be packaged in a way so it has good handles on it, because it's going to be shipped to different arts councils."

She notes the event is open to all forms of art, ranging from photography to fibre art. Blight says well over 100 pieces are submitted annually, but only some of those pieces are chosen to be a part of a travelling exhibition.

"Usually you get 60 or 70 artists, and 150 pieces of art submitted. It's submitted, the juried, and about 50 of those pieces will go on tour for the summer."

She says forms are available both at their gallery, as well as on the Portage and District Arts Centre Website.
