Those needing help with a child's winter sports registration should try the Child and Family Services of Central Manitoba Foundation.

Foundation Administrator Nancy Funk says the Chance 2 Play Program was created for that specific reason.

"What that entails is the families can apply to us for some financial assistance, and the paperwork can be found on our website or at the agency here. It just goes through what requirements need to be met by the families, and then they can apply to us to help pay for their programs in the winter."

Funk says if you need the help, don't hesitate to apply.

"It is very confidential on our part. So unless they want to be identified through promotional things they aren't identified at all, and we definitely have a maximum usage on our program, especially the Chance 2 Play Program. We get a lot of applicants to that program from Portage, MacGregor, Gladstone, all around in the Central Plains Region. So it's definitely being used."

You can either apply in person at the CFS building in Portage, or online at their website.
