The Community Foundation of Portage and District has announced the establishment of the Alix Lorraine Barrett Bursary Fund, set up by Bradford Barrett in memory of his mother.

CFPD executive director Mary Lynn Moffatt says the new fund is exciting and explains a bit about it.

"This fund is part of the bursary and scholarship program, it falls under the granting umbrella but it is specific as a scholarship to, in this case, a PCI student, a grade twelve student, that is going on to post-secondary or trades training and meets some of the criteria and traits that are established under the fund."

Eligible students must exemplify some of the traits of Alix Lorraine Barrett such as empathy, caring, compassion and helping others. The student should also be a role model who looks to always be learning and contributes to the betterment of the community.

You can learn more about this bursary by emailing info@cfpdi.ca or by contacting Mary Lynn Moffatt.
