Book lovers across Portage la Prairie have been enjoying the library's annual book sale all summer long. Book sale coordinator Suzy Laevens says this year's event is going really well and they've had lots of people through the doors. Laevens notes the numbers so far are pretty much on par with the past few years, adding right now they're moving a lot of adult fiction. She says at the moment they also have history books out as well as dictionaries and other educational books for back to school. Laevens notes it's difficult to gauge what people like, so what might be a treasure to one person wouldn't be to another, adding it's always neat to see what people do pick up.

She says the popularity of various genres featured on the sale tables will often vary depending on the time of year. Laevens notes when the sale starts in July they usually sell a lot of paperback fiction and beach books as people get ready to go the cabin, while in the fall they see a lot of history books go out the door. She adds they also sell DVDs and VHS tapes and they're hoping to put out their records within the next week or two.
