Today is day one of Portage la Prairie's 2nd annual Bike Week! PCRC and Portage Active Transportation will have biking events and activities every day starting today until next Friday, all around Portage. Southern Health Sante Sud Healthy Living facilitator Maureen Owens explains Bike Week.

"Bike Week is a part of Portage Active Transportation and Southern Health Sante Sud sits on that committee, so we are promoting biking. We have lots of events for families, adults, people with all types of skill levels, and basically we want to highlight biking in the town of Portage la Prairie."

Owens says biking is a great way to stay healthy.

"Our Healthy Living department is all about prevention. We want to keep people healthy, mentally and physically, and biking is a great way to get outside, get some physical activity, and have some fun. We know that adults need about 150 minutes of physical activity a week, and children need 60 minutes a day, and what better way to get that than on your bicycle."
