Big Brothers Big Sisters Portage will be holding a quiz night August 27 at Trinity United Church.

Executive director Dawn Froese explains how the money raised will be used.

"It's going to be used toward helping get mentors for children within our community. We know that kids who are matched with a mentor have more likelihood of completing high school, going on to post-secondary education, doing overall better than otherwise. So it's a good thing to support."

Froese notes this is their last fundraiser before the United Way blackout.

"This is our last fundraiser before we have the United Way blackout, the United Way will be fundraising and we will be supporting them because we are a member agency and we want to support them in any way we can. But this is the last thing that we will do by ourselves and so it's important for us to be able to continue going."

She encourages people to come down to have fun and support a great cause.

"It's fun, it's not intimidating. Come on out, register and we'd love to see you."

The event starts at 6 but doors open at 5:15. Registration is 120$ per team with an 8 person maximum per team. There will be quiz fun all evening with a prize at the end.
