The Whoop and Holler Folk Festival saw a great turnout and beautiful weather last night. Organizer Linda Mmichinski says they've had a great response from the public this year.

" I think there was a real buzz happening this year for the Whoop and Holler Folk Festival. I think the dance walk we had brought the spirit of the festival to Portage which was helpful as well. So yes indeed, the people who wouldn't normally consider it are actually considering it and then coming out and more people are interested in tent camping and spending the evening."

She notes her reason for putting her time and effort into the event go beyond her love for music.

"This year we have included the women of The Mother Earth Network who are helping to plan the event and volunteered their time and food through donations for the volunteers and musicians. So it's diversity and the appreciation of diversity and supporting the musicians. It's supporting the local musicians and giving them a venue to play at."

Omichinski says she is thrilled to see so many people come out to appreciate the variety of music the area has to offer.
