BDO Portage la Prairie and Farm Credit Canada (FCC) teamed up yesterday to help fill the shelves at Salvation Army, running their annual Drive Away Hunger Campaign at BDO, where people stopped by to donate non-perishable items.

BDO partner Anita Janzen-Gemmell says it's an event BDO gets involved with every year nationally, as it's a great opportunity to give back.

"We've done this for the past 10 years," Janzen-Gemmell says. "We're just happy to collect and want to give back to the community ... this is our way to get involved and get all of our staff involved."

The drive began last week with efforts from students at local schools. Janzen-Gemmel says students helped push for donations for non-perishable items to contribute to the Drive Away Hunger campaign.

"The schools were great. The kids did a great job collecting," Janzen-Gemmell says.
