A Portage la Prairie resident won a chance to meet his hero Sidney Crosby in person, and have his picture taken with the hockey superstar beside the Stanley Cup and the Conn Smythe trophy. Eight year old Aidan Blume was on vacation in Nova Scotia this summer with his mother and sister. His mother Amanda explains how he became one of 20 people selected to meet the hockey superstar.

"I heard about the parade of Sidney Crosby coming into Cole Harbour Place through Facebook actually. It was advertised that he was coming. Aidan is really into hockey. We waited in line. And anybody who bought a poster could enter into a contest. So, Aidan was the first of twenty people drawn out of all those thousands of people."

"I'm excited to tell my friends at school. He signed my shirt."

He notes hockey is his favourite past time.

"I started liking hockey when I was 6 years old. And people taught me about hockey, so now I like hockey. I have a lot of hockey cards and a hockey book with full hockey cards, a sticker book and stuff. I was excited to see Sidney Crosby and he is a hockey player. I love hockey, and he is my favourite sport guy. So, I went to see him with a picture and see the Stanley Cup. I was excited to see the Stanley Cup. I never saw it before."
