The Christmas season kicked off last night with the annual Rotary Santa Parade of Lights.

Dozens of floats put together by local businesses, schools and community groups paraded their way down Saskatchewan Avenue in Portage La Prairie to the joy of hundreds of spectators.

Joelle JobinJoelle Jobin took in the parade and shares her appreciation.

"It's pretty amazing, all the people that come out. [The floats] are amazing, all the lights, the music; it's great!"

Santa Claus even showed up on his sleigh to finish off the parade.
