The Portage Day Care Centre's hopeful they'll be up and running in Southport for September.

Executive Director Lisa Voth says outlines what's left.

"We are actually finished, which is very exciting. We'll be getting the keys to our space next week, and from there we will be setting up furniture, and decking it out with all the pretty fixings we need to have in the day care centre in hopes that we'll open in early September."

Voth says it's been a lot of hard work, and she's looking forward to things getting back to some normality.

"The feeling is that I'm done," she laughs. "This is a vision that myself, my board, and my staff have all had and we've realized there's a need in Portage. So for this particular organization, we're very excited to have 4 different sites, and I'm looking forward to just running day-to-day business from here on in, enjoying the communities we're in, and enjoying the people we work with."

She explains who can apply for their services.

"It's adjacent to the Rec-Plex, so it's primarily for military, Southport residents, Southport employees, ACC Students' children, anybody that it in that particular community. And we're looking at 28 to 30 spaces depending on the licensing requirements."

The Centre should be taking applications late August.
