The MJHL showcase wrapped up last night at the MTS Iceplex in Winnipeg with a 6-3 Portage Terrier victory over the Dauphin Kings. The Terriers were coming off of a 7-2 drubbing of the Selkirk Steelers on Monday night and continued the offense right out of the gate. James McIsaac opened the scoring 56 seconds into the game when he tapped home a Ryan Sokoloski pass at the side of the net. Portage would get another minutes later when Sokoloski would find the puck in the slot and slide it underneath a screened Brandon Holtby.

The man advantage was working well on the night for the Dauphin Kings. On the power play Ashton Clarke scored on his former team halfway through the first to cut the Terrier lead in half, making it 2-1. This is as close as the Kings would get; Portage increased the pressure in the second period and got goals from Jeremey Leipsic as he drove the net, and Kain Stevenson with a point shot through traffic. It was the first goal of the season for Stevenson.

The chemistry of Ty Enns, Ryan Sokoloski and James McIsaac continued to show when Enns scored in the first two minutes of the third period, and McIsaac scored his second of the night minutes later. Sokoloski and McIsaac both finished the night with 4 points. The Dauphin Kings would score on a 5-on-3 and then a 5-on-4 power play a minute apart late in the third but it was too little too late.

Goaltender Brock Aiken stopped 19 of the 22 shots he faced picking up the victory. The Terriers play two more games before the Christmas break; it's a home and home series with the Flyers this weekend. They are at the PCU Centre Saturday, then in Winkler on Sunday. The dogs will then be off until the new year's eve game against the Virden Oil Capitals.
