The PCI Saints are on their way to the West Winnipeg Athletic Conference varsity volleyball semifinals. They outmatched John Taylor last night in straight sets in Portage la Prairie. Grade 11 hitter Faith Buhler says their busy weekend helped get them ready for yesterday.

"We're on a high note right now and finishing second in a tournament really helped. Our big hits from the outside from Jill Jackson, good libero passing, and nice ups."

The Trojans' WWAC season came to an end last night. They fell in straight sets to St. Paul's in their quarterfinal match. The Saints will meet Westwood in the semifinal on Tuesday.

MacGregor's JV boys fell in the Zone 7 A Championship last night. They were in the championship tournament and opened with a straight-sets win over Carberry. They then went on to face Rivers in the provincial qualifier, and championship final,  and fell 3-sets-to-1. Head Coach Penny Wilson says the team learned a lot over the season, and she was proud of their sportsmanship in the final match.

Westpark's varsity boys volleyball team has a shot at the Zone 4 A Championship today. They're in Rosenort to take on the 8-and-0 Redhawks, after taking out Elm Creek in the semis in straight sets earlier this week. Head Coach Merrill Friesen feels they've got a shot.

"High school volleyball often is the team that makes the least errors (wins), and if we can play error-free ball for whatever -- 3, 4, or 5 sets -- that it takes we can beat Rosenort, but we have to play our 'A' game."

The Royals and Redhawks go at 5:30.
