The Portage Terriers and OCN Blizzard play their final match of the Manitoba Junior Hockey League Regular Season tonight at the PCU Centre. It's a make-up game from December 7th when the Blizzard couldn't make it into town because of the weather.

The Terriers lost to Dauphin over the weekend, and are 3-2-1 in the New Year. They've faced OCN twice on the road in January, winning the first 5-2, and falling in a shootout in the second.

"They're good off the rush, and good on the back-end," says head coach Blake Spiller. "They've got a new goaltender, don't know much about him or whether he'll play tomorrow night, but they're a dangerous team if you let them have space. Brady Keeper is arguably one of the top defenseman, and possibly the top player in the league so we need to make sure we're paying a little bit of extra attention to him tonight."

The Blizzard are 4-2 through 2017 so far, only falling to the Terriers and Pistons this month. They sit two points ahead of the Dogs in the standings and Spiller says a win would help keep them in the race for a home playoff spot.

"Where we are in the standings with them, if we finished today we'd be playing them in the first round and we wouldn't have home advantage. We'll be fine with whoever we get, but with (OCN) you'd like to have home ice. So that's what makes this game a little more important."

The Terriers and Blizzard go at 7:30 at the PCU Centre. You can catch that game on CFRY and at Portage Online dot com.

The Terriers have been pretty good with the extra attacker recently, going 26.5% (4-for-15) through their last three games.

"I don't put too much stock into those percentages," say Spiller. "They mean nothing if you aren't getting goals at the right times. We like the way we're moving it around we just have to make sure we're getting rebounds. I didn't think we were hungry enough in front of the net against Dauphin, and you need to have that intensity on the powerplay and even strength. Hopefully, we'll bring that tonight."

Their powerplay sits in third place overall. They're 38 on 192 opportunities for 19.79%, but their penalty kill sits in second last at just under 80%. Their home numbers are a little worse than their away, with a 17.71% on the PP and a 78.31% on the PK.

OCN's numbers are similar to the Terriers' when they are on the road. Their powerplay sits at 17.78% and their penalty kill's just over 83%.

Portage leads the league in shorthanded goals and is second to Virden in powerplay goals.
