There's Manitoba AAA Midget Hockey League action in Portage la Prairie today as the Central Plains Capitals (19-10-1) host the Thrashers at the BDO Centre.

The Caps resume their season after heading into the Christmas Break with a win over Interlake on December 18th. "A lot of the boys kept busy over the holidays," says Head Coach Brad Gnidziejko. "They had some pretty good jump (at practice) this week and I think a lot of the guys go to the rink to skate and play shinny or pick-up games with the other guys. So they were looking pretty good."

Central Plains sits in fourth place one point back of the Brandon Wheat Kings (19-6-2), and four points ahead of the Thrashers (16-6-3). Winnipeg's won both meetings so far this season and Gnidziejko feels they could've won both.

"We had the lead on them the first time we played them, and there are a lot of positives when we play these guys, we just have to keep doing what we're doing. With good goaltending and solid defensive play I feel we put ourselves in a good position to win."

The Caps and Thrashers face off at 4 p.m. at the BDO Centre.
